Won Buddhism

The Won- Buddhism ( Kor. 박중빈 ) is a neo-Buddhist movement in South Korea. It was officially in 1924, when Korea was still a province of Japan's Sotesan ( Pak Chung -bin; 1891-1943 ) founded, who had learned an epiphany in 1916. 1947 named the second patriarch Kyu Song ( 1900-1962 ) to the community in Won Bulgyo. In 1980, she was said to have about 0.91 million followers in South Korea.

Their doctrine is syncretistic, it represents among other positions of the Theravada and Zen Buddhism as well as other religions. In the center of teaching are the Wonbulgyo Kyojon writings.

At institutions of higher education are the Wonkwang University in Iksan ( South Jeolla ), South Korea, emphasized with their Department of Won- Buddhism.
