Wooden churches of the Slovak Carpathians

Under the name Wooden Churches of the Slovak part of the Carpathian Mountains, UNESCO performs eight Slovak wooden churches as a World Heritage Site.

The churches were built between the 16th and 18th centuries and are the World Heritage Committee as a " good example of a rich local tradition of religious architecture at the interface between Western European and Byzantine culture." The awards were two Roman Catholic churches, three Protestant churches, also known as articular, and three Greek Catholic churches. In addition to the eight World Heritage Sites exist about 50 more wooden churches in Slovakia.
