Woodson County, Kansas

Woodson County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Yates Center. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in the central south-west of Kansas and has an area of ​​1309 square kilometers, of which 13 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Coffey County, Anderson County, Allen County, Neosho County, Wilson County and Greenwood County.

History

Woodson County was formed in 1855 and is among the first 33 counties that were formed by the first territorial administration. It was named after Daniel Woodson, a governor of the Kansas territory.
