Woori Financial Group

Woori Financial Group is a South Korean company with headquarters in Seoul.

The Group was formed as a result of the Asian crisis on the East Asian financial markets. Woori Financial Group was founded in 2001 and is the second largest financial services group in South Korea. The Group includes the former South Korean financial companies Hanvit, Peace, and Kwanju Kyonnam Banks and Hanaro Investment Banking. This predecessor companies were taken over by the South Korean government and recapitalized as these financial companies fell under the requirements of Basel I. The South Korean government is the main shareholder of Woori Financial Group. Woori Financial Group is among the top ten in the stock index KOSPI.
