Workshop

A workshop is a place of work with existing tools or machinery for the manufacture or repair of manufactured goods. It is the space, in which a trade is exercised in so far as this can not take place under the open sky or needs.

From pre-industrial times to the present day workshops are the places where artisanal or handicraft goods are produced (see also Manufactory).

Widely used are workshops especially in craft, such as in carpentry or locksmith workshops, blacksmiths, tailors, body shops, car repair shop (or Mietwerkstatt ) or in the arts as a studio. In various trades and demonstration workshops that present the artisanal work processes for visitors clearly exist. In the cultural sector, there are also cultural and theater workshops.

As part of the do-it- yourself movement, many hobby workshops produced in the private sphere ( home improvement ).

The workshop production refers to a type of production in which the resources are object-oriented and organized spatially combined, such as in the auto repair shop, the carpentry etc.

A workshop can be a meeting or a learning unit in a figurative sense. This term emphasizes problem solving, or even the direct practice on the subject.
