World Association of Nuclear Operators

The World Association of Nuclear Operators ( WANO ), German: World Association of Nuclear Operators, an interest organization of the nuclear industry. It is headquartered in London and four regional centers in Atlanta, Paris, Moscow and Tokyo. All countries and organizations in the world that operate a plant to produce electricity from nuclear energy, are members of WANO. Founded as the WANO in 1989, three years after the Chernobyl disaster.

History

The inaugural meeting took place in Moscow in May 1989.
