World Class Championship Wrestling

World Class Wrestling Association ( WCWA ), also known as World Class Championship Wrestling, was a former American Wrestling promotion. It was founded by Fritz von Erich and directed until 1987. In 1987 came from Eric's sons, Kerry and Kevin von Erich to the leadership of the promotion. This league was headquartered in Dallas, Texas.

The promotion was closed in 1991.

History

The history of this wrestling league began in 1966 when Morris Sigel, a co-owner of the wrestling promotion "Southwest Sports", its share of the promotion of Paul Boesch and Fritz von Erich sold. The two reorganized this share and acted as NWA Big Time Wrestling at the National Wrestling Alliance. President of the new league was Von Erich.

In April 1982, Big Time Wrestling in World Class Championship Wrestling renamed. In 1986, a new name change and the emergence from the umbrella organization of the NWA. The Wrestling Promotion now called World Class Wrestling Association and in 1988 began the WCWA with the Continental Wrestling Association, and the American Wrestling Association together. These three promotions later formed the Wrestling Association United States Wrestling Association. However, the alliance of convenience did not last long, as Kevin Von Erich in 1991 withdrew from the USWA and closed his league.
