World Communion of Reformed Churches

The World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC; French Communion mondiale d' Églises réformées ), headquartered in Hanover ( Germany ) is an international network of currently 230 Evangelical Reformed Churches together with more than 80 million members. The world community was founded in June 2010 by the merger of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches and the World Council. President of the new international umbrella organization is the South African Rev. Dr. Jerry Pillay, of the Uniting Presbyterian Church in South Africa represents at the same time.

World Alliance of Reformed originated in 1970 in Nairobi as an association founded in 1875 a Presbyterian and Congregational founded in 1891 world organization. The Reformed Ecumenical Council was formed in 1946.

Member churches in German-speaking countries are the Evangelical Reformed Church, the Church of Lippe (both as national churches are also members of the Evangelical Church in Germany ), the Reformed Federation, Federation of Swiss Protestant Churches and the Evangelical Church HB in Austria. It is Lower Saxony in a ( state- canonical ) public corporation.

At the Synod of the Evangelical Church in Germany in November 2012 in Timmendorfer beach TRC announced that they will relocate its headquarters to the year 2013/14 from Geneva to Hannover, to save costs, since Geneva is the third most expensive city in the world. Should be saved 166,000 euros from the total budget (about 1.4 million euros ) by the move. Since 1 January 2014, the TRC has its headquarters next to the Alliance of Reformed Churches in the Calvin Center in Hanover.
