World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development

The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development ( briefly also World Day for Cultural Development, English World Day for Cultural Diversity, for Dialogue and Development) is an action of UNESCO, which is celebrated annually on May 21.

On the occasion of the 31 adopted by the General Conference of UNESCO in November 2001 Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity and the World Day for Cultural Development was proclaimed. He aims to create awareness of cultural diversity and emphasize the contribution of artists to the dialogue of cultures.

On 3 March 2011 the German Cultural Council presented at a press conference in Berlin on the occasion of the UNESCO World Day on May 21, 2011, the nationwide campaign " culture reinforce good ", which is organized together with the German Federal Cultural Foundation. The aim should be to set an example for the protection and promotion of cultural diversity and against the cultural degradation. The initiative aims to draw attention to the problems of financing of culture and cultural institutions.
