World Kendo Championship
The Kendo World Cup (World Kendo Championships, WKC ) is organized by the International Kendo Federation ( IKF ) since 1970. This kendo championship is held every three years at different locations. It will be played individual and team battles. Usually the venue alternates between Asia, America and Europe. Since 1994, the world champion of the women are determined. In the context of the World Cup, Dan tests and judges courses take place.
In the 13th kendo world championship in 2006 in Taipei for the first time the Japanese team has not been world champion and had to settle for third place.
The 15th World Kendo Championship was held in Novara in Italy from 23 to 28 May 2012.
