World Laughter Day

The World Laughter Day is a World Day, which is celebrated annually on the first Sunday in May. The idea comes from the laughter yoga movement, which is organized in more than 6,000 laughter clubs worldwide. 14:00 German clock time (12:00 GMT) is thereby laughed together for three minutes.

The World Laughter Day was created in 1998 by Madan Kataria, founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement to life. The celebration of World Laughter Tags will embody peace in the world and has to reach the goal of becoming a global consciousness of brotherhood and friendship through laughter.

The first World Laughter Day meeting was held in Bombay, India on 11 January 1998. At that time, met 12,000 members from local and international laughter clubs.

The first World Laughter Day meeting outside India was held in Copenhagen on 9 January 2000. The " Happy- demic " with more than 10,000 people laughing at the Copenhagen City Hall Square was included in the Guinness Book of World Records.

In Germany laughing people meet on World Laughter Day in many places. On 1 May 2011 including Berlin, Frankfurt / Main, Hamburg, Regensburg, and in and around the Rhine Falls of Schaffhausen.

In Switzerland takes place each of laughter Parade in Zurich on World Laughter Day. Several hundred people run laughing in a parade through downtown Zurich to subsequently send a common laughter around the globe. The event will be rounded down with a big stage show, which also clowns, humor expert and comedian occur.
