World Online

World Online was a European Internet service providers, who had access to the Internet, a free e -mail service as well as free SMS delivery offered.

History

One of the greatest strengths of World Online was the cooperation of the subsidiary 12move with the oil company Shell, by the Internet service providers to rapidly gain a foothold in Europe and was able to keep the cost of customer acquisition low. World Online was acquired by the Italian internet service provider Tiscali in April 2001. Through this transaction, Tiscali increased with over 1.8 million active customers (as at 31 March 2001), the third largest internet provider in the German market.
