World Rally Championship (video game series)

Unlike other simulations Rally Colin McRae Rally Richard Burns Rally or the games of the series with the FIA license are officially licensed. Thus in the Games are all vehicles and rallies, as well as contain all the real names of the drivers World Rally Championship. The only exception is Colin McRae as Codemasters, the developer of Colin McRae Rally, already owns the rights to the name. Colin McRae is therefore in the series of games partially replaced with fictitious names such as " driver for Ford " or is not even integrated into the game.

Improvements were mainly the driving physics. The rally cars behave considerably slower and thus more realistic in the game. WRC: Rally Evolved WRC or 5 appeared on 26 October 2005 as the fifth and final part of the series, because Sony has only the WRC license until 2005. It is based on the data of the WRC season in 2005.

WRC: Rally Evolved is the highest stage of evolution of the series and is designed for maximum realism. The rally tracks all appear in an entirely original track designs. Each stage has its own character and has different characteristics on. New are random events that can occur on some stages. Thus, at the edge of the track marshals are, which warn of danger, and soon plunges verunfalltes vehicle on the side of the track. Occasionally animals cross the road or break it up heavy rocks of a hillside and block the roadway. The graphics have been improved and the realistic engine sounds are different for all vehicles. The co-pilot are human announcements and comments. For the varied and complex routes shown some limitations in the number of navigable route kilometers had to be made. The rallies are made in WRC: Rally Evolved from only three rather short stages, while in the previous section, there is a rally of six stages.

As a completely new game mode can be run against AI opponents in this game for the first time Rallycross. Here, four cars on the track, which drive a race against each other. The races are held on the same routes, which are also accessible as WRC championship round. This mode is however criticized for the poor artificial intelligence, because the computer opponents have a very aggressive and unrealistic driving. Rallycross is playable in split-screen mode and online.

WRC: Rally Evolved was " good" of 4players.de with a rating of 84%.
