World Squash Federation

The World Squash Federation (WSF ) represents a world federation international squash sport and advocates its interests. He is the umbrella organization for all national associations.

History and Significance

The WSF was founded in 1967 under the name " International Squash Rackets Federation ". In 1992 it was renamed to its present name. In total there are 147 national associations Member of the World Association, which has its headquarters in the English Hastings.

Current President of the Association is the Indian Narayana Ramachandran. Jahangir Khan, who is regarded as the most successful squash player in history, and for many years was the president himself, is Honorary President of the WSF. Both were elected to their posts in 2008.

Tasks

All World Championships are organized by the WSF, the remaining tour schedule is drawn up in close cooperation with the professional associations of men and women, the PSA and the WISPA. The WSF also ensures that squash at major sporting events part of the program will remain or, as for example in the Commonwealth Games or the World Games. In addition, the WSF shall perform administrative tasks such as organizing the refereeing and the maintenance of the rule.

The biggest goal of WSF is to make squash an Olympic sport. However, so far failed the applications for the 2012 Games and 2016. For the 2020 Summer Olympics but another attempt will be made.
