World Team Chess Championship
The World Team Cup is next to the Chess Olympiad 's main international team competition in chess.
At her participate the strongest teams in the world as well as representatives of the various continents. The field is limited to 10 teams, with a round-robin tournament ( " FFA ") is played. The team's strength is four players with the exception of the first held in 1985 ( six players). The use of a replacement player or a substitute player is permitted.
The first team World Cup took place in 1985. It was first played in the 4 -year cycle, since 2011 in the 2 -year cycle. Since 2007 there is also a World Team Championships of the ladies who will be held at 2- year intervals. Since then, each team will count as critical rating criterion, previously it was the board points.
