World Universities Congress

The World Congress of the universities was in October 2010 for the first time held at the Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi.

The Chairman of the Congress led the rector of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi, Ali Akdemir, and the rector of Trakya Üniversitesi ( Edirne ), Enver Duran. At this congress came ten university representatives from Australia, and 250 participants from universities of the European Union, in particular Germany, the United States, the countries of the Balkans and the African and Asian continents. A total of 50 universities were represented and a thousand participants from academia, government and industry participated in the deliberations.

It was noted that there should not be sufficient, that universities educate students and awarded diplomas, but that the requirements and responsibilities of universities to broaden the wider community and redefine itself.
