World Wide Web Wanderer

The World Wide Web Wanderer ( only as a wanderer known) was developed in June 1993 by Matthew Gray was the first web crawler for the World Wide Web at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in order to measure the size and growth of the Internet. It was based on the Perl programming language.

The Wanderer produced an index which became known as Wandex, and went about his task until the termination of the project in 1995 after.
