The Scarecrow is a British television series that was produced and directed by James Hill in 1979. The series was based on books by the writer Barbara Euphan Todd. In the British original is called the series " Worzel Gummidge "; for German television 13 parts have been synchronized.

Action

The children John and Sue pull together with her father to the countryside, somewhere in England. They soon make acquaintance with a strange scarecrow who speak and can move. They were created by the uncanny crows man who has many such bizarre creatures given life. The scarecrow he gave the name root.

Those root developed into a joker and change artist first order. Most of the time he spends to make any nonsense to annoy people or to create much chaos as possible. His actual job, the scare of birds he goes reluctantly, which causes the hassles of crows man by himself. He often brings out such difficulties that he must literally around his head, he can arbitrarily remove and replace at any time by another fear. Luckily for him, his new friends John and Sue regularly help him out of trouble. Root also shows human traits, as he falls in love at a fairground in the wood doll "Aunt Sally". Now he does everything possible to conquer her heart. But this way proves to be the scarecrow root more than rocky.
