Wound Medal (Austria-Hungary)

The Wounded Medal (Hungarian Sebesültek Erme, known colloquially as Blessiertenmedaille ) was founded on 12 August 1917, Emperor Charles I of Austria -Hungary and was awarded to officers, NCOs and men who had been wounded in the war as a result of combat actions or were invalids.

Appearance

The round medal shows the center facing to the right length portrait of the founder. Over the head of the inscription CAROLVS and below the picture of two crossed laurel branches. On the back is MCMXVIII LAESO Militi ( The wounded soldiers ) and the number.

Carrying method

Overall, there were six different Ribbons, which differed depending on the number of injuries or serious injuries. Disabled veteran wore the belt with a blood- red border strip while between one and five wounded by a were identified to five blood-red center stripe, respectively.

The award was worn on the ribbon on the left chest.
