History

In the years 2000 to 2005, the World Championship was organized in cooperation with Matchroom Sport, which previously organized with the World Professional Pool Championship 1999, a similar tournament. As of 2006, the Philippine promoter Raya Sports got the hosting rights. 2008 Raya Sports, however, decided to return the rights to Matchroom Sport and instead discharge the first time a 10-Ball Championship.

In 2008, the first time since 1990 took place no 9-Ball Championships, was that Matchroom Sport could win any sponsors due to the financial crisis and the newly formed 10-Ball Championship. Even if the World Cup could be held again in 2009 it was not clear long; ultimately it was exposed again. Then in 2010 a new edition was held back; this time in Doha ( Qatar), which the hosting rights secured by 2014 ..

In current mode, there is a total prize money of U.S. $ 250,000 to win, of which U.S. $ 36,000 going to the winner. The final will be played in best-of -25 mode, so at 13 games won.
