Wrapper (philately)

A packet is in Germany the term for a small parcel. It is offered in Germany by Deutsche Post AG or of its subsidiary DHL package as well as the Hermes Logistics Group Germany GmbH. In Austria and Switzerland, you only have the choice between a large letter or a package. The package is available as a Small Packet and Royal Mail.

The package shall vacate and bear the inscription " packet ". History

The packet to 1 kg, were introduced on 1 January 1920 in the Kingdom of postal territory, following the example of other postal administrations. Registered mail, declaration of value or cash on delivery were excluded. From 1 July 1928, open and closed parcels were approved, as a letter packet to 1 kg or as other parcels up to 2 kg. Size and weight for the DHL package

For domestic shipping applies: A cuboid package may not exceed the dimension 60 × 30 × 15 centimeters. For packet in roll form 90 centimeters long and 15 centimeters in diameter are considered to be the upper limit. The minimum dimensions are 15 × 11 × 1 cm for rectangular and length of 15 and 5 cm diameter for roll-shaped parcel. The weight must not exceed 2 kg.

For international shipping of cuboidal packets following rules apply: The sum of length, width and height must not exceed 90 centimeters, with neither side may be longer than 60 inches. At the international shipment of Roll the following rules apply: length not greater than 90 inches, length twice the diameter not greater than 104 centimeters. The minimum dimensions are - as in German domestic traffic - 15 × 11 × 1 cm for rectangular and "Length 15 Diameter 5 " for roll-shaped parcel.

Size and weight for Hermes packet

The sum of the longest and shortest side shall not exceed 37 cm. The weight must not exceed 25 kg.

Pluspäckchen

Pluspäckchen consist of packaging ( Packset Deutsche Post ) and Porto (location token ) and may weigh up to 10 kilograms deviation within Germany.

Liability and tracking at the DHL package

Liability and tracking since January 1, 2012 in Germany and in the online franking no longer possible. For an extra charge of two euros international shipments (EU and non-EU) are insured to 35 EUR and offer shipment tracking to over 40 countries. The tracking is not available for all countries. Also from abroad such registered shipments are possible if the local post office offers this, from Deutsche Post such items are treated as writing and delivered against signature.
