Wremen

Wremen is a northern seaside town on the Weser estuary and a member community of the Lower Saxon Samtgemeinde Wursten in the same landscape in the district of Cuxhaven. In addition to the main town Wremen include also the places Hülsing, Schottwarden, court and Rintzeln to the community.

The community Wremen will form 1 January 2015 together with the communities Cappel, Dorum, Midlum, Misselwarden, Mulsum, North wood and Padingbüttel the new community Wurster North Sea coast in the district of Cuxhaven. The Samtgemeinde Wursten is dissolved by the same date.

History

Between Wremen and Mulsum existed in early times the Feddersen Wierde, a Wurtendorf in Seemarsch. The originally located on an island Saxon settlement was inhabited from the 1st century BC to the 5th century. The mounds of the individual farms grew together into a four acre and four meters high Dorfwurt over time. This was from 1954 to 1963 (present-day Lower Saxony Institute for Historical Coastal Research ) exposed in a large-scale archaeological excavation by the " Lower Saxony Institute for marshes and Wurtenforschung " in Wilhelmshaven completely.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms of the municipality is split and shows the front of a silver background a black, rotbewehrten Adler at slit, which stands for the membership of the Wursten, and back up a silver anchor on a blue background as a sign for the shipping. Below, divided by a the Weser symbolizing silver wave beams, is a green field to point to the march.

Economy

For tourism are approximately 600 beds of different quality. Around 100,000 overnight stays are recorded annually. Several restaurants and bars are locals and guests.

There are some farmers who are mainly involved in dairy farming. From Wremer harbor several shrimp boats run regularly in the offshore tidelands catch crabs. Many citizens take advantage of the high quality of life of Wremen as a residential and place of life and work in the near Bremerhaven.

Resident since 2001, is the Cuxland Holiday Parks GmbH, which offers holiday homes and apartments for sale and rental.

Traffic

Wremen has a railway station and is located about 15 km north of Bremerhaven on the railway line Bremerhaven - Cuxhaven with regularly has approached a breakpoint.
