Wren Blair

Wren Blair ( born October 2, 1925 in Lindsay, Ontario, † 2 January 2013 in Whitby, Ontario ) was a Canadian ice hockey coach and functionary.

Life

Wren Blair was. Before his career in the National Hockey League ( NHL) coaches and managers of amateur hockey association Whitby Dunlops, with whom he 1957 and 1959 the Allan Cup won He then coached in the Eastern Professional Hockey League Kingston Frontenacs. In 1960 he was active as a scout for the NHL and negotiated among others, between the Boston Bruins and Bobby Orr. In the NHL 1967/68 season he coached in the National Hockey League, the Minnesota North Stars. In the following season, he was replaced by John Muckler. However, Muckler was not successful and had to leave the North Stars during the current season, as the successor Wren Blair was obliged again. In the season 1969/1970 Blair was sacked after 32 games of Minnesota and replaced by Charlie Burns. From July 1975 to December 1976, he was General Manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Wren Blair died at the age of 87 in Whitby, Ontario.
