Wrigley Field is a stadium in the north of Chicago. The current home of the Chicago Cubs was built in 1914, was first called Weeghman Park and was the home of the Chicago Whales of the Federal League. It initially had capacity for 14,000 people and then cost $ 250,000. The first National League game took place here in 1916, moved in as the Cubs after a change of ownership. 1920, it was renamed Cubs Park after the Wrigley family, owner of the eponymous Bubble Gum Factory, the team took over. Only in 1926 it was renamed Wrigley Field. At this time there was also a California Wrigley Field, which although first it was called, but was built by the Chicago original.

Wrigley is after Fenway Park, the oldest and smallest stadium in the majors. It was also the last stadium, which was equipped with light ( 1988). To date, may be played out of respect for the residents, only a limited number of games in the evening. Nevertheless, every game is sold out. A great feature, the seats are outside the outfields, even outside the stadium. The owners of the houses opposite the stadium bleachers have installed on their roofs, why the Cubs have some of the owners sued. Before the 2004 season, it was agreed with the owners and the courts can be resold, but the Cubs will receive a portion of the proceeds. Another special feature is the outfield wall consisting of brick and is overgrown with ivy, planted in 1937 by the then Treasurer of the Cubs, Bill Veeck.

Currently thinking about a major renovation, in which the outer facade is to be changed, as has increased the number of seats. In addition, there will be new Clubhouses.

On 1 January 2009, the Winter Classic game of the National Hockey League ( ice hockey) between the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks took place at the Wrigley Field in front of 40 818 spectators. The Red Wings won the game 6-4.

The stadium is in the movie Blues Brothers the subject of a running gags: Elwood confesses his brother Jake, he had the address of 1060 West Addison specified in the copy of his license as a residence. Jake replied without hesitation, "That's Wrigley Field ." Later, the Chicago Police Department, however, is trying to arrest the Blues Brothers at this address. The Nazis of Illinois, who noticed in search of the Blues Brothers the address when listening to the police radio, go into the trap of illusion and are totally confused to see the movie before the entrance of the stadium.
