The Technical University of Wroclaw (Polish Politechnika Wrocławska, English Wroclaw University of Technology) is a Founded in 1910, Technical University of Wroclaw.

The Technical University of Wroclaw was founded in 1910. After the conquest of Wrocław by the Red Army and the surrender of the city to Poland until then German University of Wroclaw and the Institute of Technology in Universities of the Polish state were already converted on 24 August 1945. With lectures of professors Polish Ludwik Kazimierz Idaszewski Hirszfeld and the teaching on 15 November of the same year was resumed. This day is also celebrated as the official reopening.

The University currently has about 32,000 students; of which about 20% of distance students. With approximately 4,200 employees, the University of Wroclaw is considered the largest employer in the city. About 160 of the employees are employed as professors, about 1,650 have the title of doctor ( including approximately 250 are located with a completed post-doctoral ).

The university has 14 student hostels with about 4,000 beds.

In 2001, the German - Polish Society of the University of Wroclaw eV was founded with the goal of understanding and knowledge transfer (Breslau). This company covers all universities in the city of Wroclaw University, Pontifical Theological Faculty, Medical Academy, University of Technology, schools of business, agriculture, sports, music and art.

In 2001, in cooperation with the Technical University of Liberec in the Czech Republic and Zittau / Goerlitz University of Applied Sciences, Economy and Social Policy in Germany was founded in the Neisse University. The concept of the Neisse University is based on a study in real linguistic, cultural, scientific and economic environment. In it, students and teachers from three countries are involved.

Cooperations

Since 2008, a joint international Master's degree in Information Technology with the University of East Westphalia -Lippe is operated in Lemgo ..

Personalities

  • Kurt Lüer (1863-1946), tar - chemist and inventor. The " initiator of tar and asphalt road construction on the German highways " was appointed in 1935 Honorary Senator of the TH Wroclaw.
