Wuenheim

Wuenheim is a commune with 788 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ), in the Alsace Haut -Rhin. It belongs to the district Guebwiller, the canton of Soultz -Haut-Rhin and the Municipal Association of Région de Guebwiller.

Geography

The community Wuenheim is on the edge of the Vosges. The Wuenheimerbach fed by the mountain streams Good Bach and Kaltenbach, occurs here in the Upper Rhine Plain. In the southwest of the municipality 's highest point is reached in Hartmannswillerkopf with 956 m. The municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges.

Neighboring communities of Wuenheim are Jungholtz in the north, Soultz -Haut-Rhin in the east, Hartmannswillerkopf in the south, Wattwiller in the southwest and the Forêt de Soultz Reculée, an enclave of the town of Soultz-Haut- Rhin, in the west.

Community partnership

There is a community partnership with Gravenwiesbach. It was initiated by the entrepreneur Josef Grünewald, who had a company operated from 1941 to 1945 and from 1946 in Wuenheim in Gravenwiesbach. Josef Grünewald is an honorary citizen of Wuenheim.
