Württemberg Engelmann ( born February 11, 1908 in Miller, South Dakota, USA, † January 8, 1979 in Green Bay, Wisconsin), alternative name: Weert Engelman (s) or Weert Engleman (s), nicknamed " The Flying Dutchman of Miller "was a US- American football player and athlete. He played in the National Football League ( NFL) with the Green Bay Packers.

Playing career

College career

Württemberg Engelmann studied from 1927 to 1929 at South Dakota State University, where he also played basketball alongside American football and was active as an athlete. His College awarded him in all three years of study from for his achievements as a football player. Both in basketball, as well as in American football, he was elected to the league selection. In 1928, he failed as a decathlete short of qualifying for the Olympic Summer Games in Amsterdam in 1928.

Professional career

Württemberg Engelmann in 1930 committed by the Green Bay Packers, who were coached by Curly Lambeau. The Packers were the reigning NFL champion and Engelmann played with John McNally back in the offense of the team. In his rookie year Engelmann won the NFL championship with the Packers. The following year, the Packers were able to defend their title. 1932 Engelmann one of six players in the NFL, which scored a touchdown after an intercepted pass. After the 1933 season Engelmann ended his career.

Honors

Württemberg Engelmann is a member of the South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame. The magazine "The Sports Illustrated " took him to the list of the 50 best athletes who come from South Dakota, on.
