Wulgrin III of Angoulême

Vulgrin III. (also Wulfgrin, † 1181 ) was a Count of Angoulême Taillefer out of the house. He was the eldest son of Count William VI. and Margaret, a daughter of the Viscount Raymond I of Turenne.

Vulgrin assisted his father in 1176 in rebellion against Duke Richard the Lionheart, conducting a Brabanzonenheer loots by the Poitou. In a counter-offensive Richards he was placed the end of May 1176 between Saint- Maigrin and Bouteville of this and trounced in a field battle, whereupon the rebellious lords of Aquitaine had to surrender to the Duke.

He died after only a short time as Count of Angoulême. From his marriage with Elizabeth, daughter of Hugh II of Amboise ( Amboise house ), he had an underage daughter Mathilde ( † after 1233 ). For their guardian Richard the Lionheart said, however, denied by Vulgrins brothers, Wilhelm VII and Aymar, their succession. She married around 1200/1201 Hugo IX. of Lusignan.
