Wulkau is a municipality in the district of Stendal Kamern in Saxony- Anhalt ( Germany ).

Geography

The district Wulkau located on the edge of the vast plains between the rivers Elbe, Havel and the country Schollene, a forested Endmoränenbogen. The River Elbe is only two kilometers, the river Havel miles from both Wulkau. The city Havel mountain lies about eight kilometers north of Wulkau.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1376 Wulkau in a document. After the devastation of the Thirty Years War Wulkau was gradually resettled.

In GDR times entertained the German Reichsbahn in place a summer camp for children of their company employees.

Until December 31, 2009 Wulkau was a separate municipality. On 1 January 2010, the annexation took place after Kamern.

Wulkau is located on the main road 107 Havelberg to Genthin. From the B 107 branches in Wulkau the road from Rathenow. The railway line Schönhausen - Sandau was decommissioned in 1997. The nearest train stations are about 20 kilometers away from Wulkau ( Schönhausen (Elbe ), Rathenow and Glöwen ).
