Wupper-Theater

The Wupper Theatre is a 1991 existing intercultural theater in Wuppertal.

History

Founder of the theater " with Turkish roots " ( self-representation ), which initially had ancestral venues in Wuppertal, were now director Barbara Krott, Vedat Erincin, Lilay houses and Meray Ülgen. From the mid- 1990s, the theater had become so widely established that it increases funding received, which was not the case in the first years of existence.

Program

The beginning of multicultural oriented Wupper Theatre, which also acts as a touring theater mainly in western Germany, is engaged in many of his productions thematically with the "Interface Middle East / Central Europe". So, they worked pieces for substances of Dido Sotiriu, Yaşar Kemal Güngör Dilmen, Friedrich Ani, Emine Erdem and Safeta Obhođaš, but also his own plays and cabaret programs of the ensemble members. The Wupper theater brought but also partly German premieres by renowned authors such as Hanif Kureishi's Borderline ( 1981) under the title Beyond Borders. In addition, it has launched in 2002 the strengthening of cooperation with institutions and theaters of the Bergisch region. Also, workshops and other opportunities for young people as from the outset firmly established children's theater organized by the Wupper Theatre.

Award

2003 within the framework of the partnership with Košice, in cooperation with the Cultural Office of Wuppertal organized youth project scary the theater was awarded a " Gold Star " by the EU.
