The station Wuppertal- Barmen is a passenger station in Wuppertal District Oberbarmen. With four linked railway tracks it has long been an important railway junction. Today there branches, only the railway line Wuppertal -Solingen - Oberbarmen on the main route leading through the station Wuppertal, Dortmund.

History

The station was opened on October 9, 1847 by the Bergisch- Märkische Railway Company under the name Barmen- Rittershausen. In 1930 it was renamed in Wuppertal- Barmen.

Until 1910, was located between the railway tracks and the road Rosenau a railway depot, which was moved to Wuppertal-Langerfeld/Schwelm. During World War II the station and the station building was badly damaged. After a partial demolition by the German Federal Railroad after the Second World War took place in the 80s during the opening of S8, the transformation of the station.
