History

Wurmsham belonged to the counts of the election. The village was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark, whose seat was the Wurmsham castle. The last castle was cut off shortly after 1800. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

Incorporations

On 1 May 1978 the until then independent municipality Paul Zell, which had more inhabitants than Wurmsham, incorporated. Simultaneously, a small area was ceded with less than 100 inhabitants to the neighboring community Bodenkirchen.

Culture and sights

The Church of St. Nicholas is a late Gothic brick building dating from the 15th century. The neo-Gothic altars contain late-Gothic figures from the period around 1500.
