WVC Dynamo Moscow

The VK Dynamo Moscow ( женский волейбольный клуб Динамо Москва ) is a Russian women's volleyball club from Moscow, which was revived in 2004 and originally belonged to Dynamo Moscow. The club through his great successes at the time of the Soviet Union, in particular by the women's team became known.

History

The volleyball club comes from the same Russian sports club, which was founded on 18 April 1923 and was subordinated to the KGB during the Soviet era. The successful period of Dynamo Moscow began in the late 1940s.

The women's team won 1947-1983 a total of fifteen USSR championship four times and the Soviet Cup competition. The high class of this team could prove internationally impressive especially. In 1961 came the introduction of the European Champions' Cup, the Dynamo Moscow clearly dominated from the start. From 1961 to 1977 Dynamo was fourteen times in the final and took eleven times the most important title in European club volleyball. However, in the 1980s it came to the decline of the previously best European women's team. Until 1988, the association held in the top flight, before he descended to the second division. There, he took part in the game until 1992, holding before the volleyball department of the women was dissolved.

2004 was based on the volleyball club sucking MGSU the revival of successful women's teams. To be immediately competitive, committed the management of the club to Irina Kirillowa world class players like Jelena Godina and Ekaterina Gamowa. The new team won three league titles in the first season of existence, the runner-up and in the following years. Thus, the team was eligible to play for the Volleyball Champions League, in which it reached the silver medal in 2007 and 2009.

The squad for the 2009/10 season consists of 14 players, all of which come from Russia down to a Bulgarian and a Brazilian.

The positions: acceptance (A ), Outdoor attack (AA), Diagonal ( D), Libero (L ), middle block (M), Universal (U) and setter (Z).
