The WWE Cruiserweight Championship ( to German WWE World Cruiserweight Championship ) was a wrestling title that has the wrestling organization World Wrestling Entertainment acquired after the purchase of WCW and in her show SmackDown! awarded to individual wrestler. The title was officially a weight limit of 97.5 kg ( 215 lbs). On 3 March 2008 the title has been set. As in Wrestling common practice was the award after a predetermined storyline.

History

The WWE Cruiserweight Championship was formerly known as World Championship Wrestling ( WCW ) Light Heavyweight Championship. After the presentation of the title in 1990, the first titleholder was determined in a tournament. On October 27, 1990 Brian Pillman won the tournament and became the first titleholder. As in 1992, the then titleholder Brad Armstrong injured and had to relinquish the title remained vacant until Shinjiro Otani this title in a tournament final was won against Wild Pegasus and this as WCW Cruiserweight Championship was reactivated.
