WWE Draft

The WWE Draft was a 2004 to 2011 -yearly action of the WWE, where the superstars in the league between the shows Smackdown and RAW ( between 2007 and 2009 and ECW) are exchanged.

As early as 2002, when the WWE split into two shows Smackdown and RAW, a draft was held.

History

After the World Wrestling Federation had (now WWE) wrestling leagues over the competing World Championship Wrestling ( WCW ) and Extreme Championship Wrestling ( ECW), the league was split into two different Roster: RAW and SmackDown.

As part of a storyline announced WWF CEO Linda McMahon, that the two partners Ric Flair ( Took over the storyline RAW) and Vince McMahon ( Took over during the storyline Smackdown ) are likely to select each 30 superstars for their roster. On 25 March 2002, the draft was held. The first part of the draft was shown during RAW, the rest you could watch them on the WWF website.

Because of Wrestlemania XX motto, "Where it all begins ... again", Vince McMahon announced in March 2004, a draft of lottery. ( "it's time to shake things up again" ), the General Manager of the roster could thereby select six superstars.

Unlike last year's Draft of the Draft 2005 took place not in a single evening, but the whole month of July instead. During the Draft John Cena had the champion at the time was WWE, go to RAW. In return, joined a short time later Batista, the World Heavyweight title held to Smackdown. The two highest titles in WWE had thus changed the roster.

After the ECW in 2006 her comeback as a new WWE roster, Vince McMahon allowed the ECW General Manager Paul Heyman to pick from each of the other two roster each one superstar.

In 2007 participated for the first time the three part roster. Unlike in the past, it was the general managers no longer possible to alternately select the superstars. Instead Draft matches were played between the wrestlers of the various roster. The roster of the winner will be assigned a superstar from the other roster.

The same mechanism has also been used in the following years. As part of the WWE Draft 2009 Superstars and Divas changed the roster as part of the so-called " Draft Supplement " ( Supplementary Draft), which were not announced in the show, but on the Internet.

After the ECW had been set, the Draft 2010 was again held only between RAW and SmackDown.

2011 changed six wrestlers on-air. In this Draft also a wrestler was twice gedrafted for the first time in the live show. John Cena was first changes back from RAW to SmackDown and back to RAW. In the " Supplement Draft" changed the roster 22 wrestlers.

Since the end of 2011, the roster split with the introduction of the " Super Show " concept was de facto abolished, so that all wrestlers can occur in all shows. Since then, no more Draft took place today.
