Wyhra

The Wyhra, above the dam Schömbach also Wiera, is an approximately 47 km long tributary of the splices in Saxony and Thuringia. As Wiera is the river its name to the villages of Ober - and Niederwiera in the northern district of Zwickau, the administrative community Wieratal in the eastern part of the district Altenburger Land, as well as for the Wieratal.

Waters classification

In Thuringia the Wiera has after the Thuringian Water Act the status of a body of water the second-order and is therefore in the entertainment burden of the municipalities in whose territory it flows.

In the classification of the watercourse under the Water Framework Directive, it is associated with the type VI, fine material rich, calcareous highland rivers. It is regarded as artificially modified body of water, its ecological status and ecological potential is estimated to be poor. The chemical state under the Water Framework Directive is good. Despite the shortcomings in the structure of water, no measures are provided for the surface water body in the program of measures Flußgebietsgemeinschaft same until 2015.

Course

The Wyhra has its source at Oberwiera in the north of the district of Zwickau, where it supports even the name Wiera. In Engert village they passed over to Thuringian territory and flows in a northerly direction to the east of the dam Schömbach Leinawaldes located at Altmörbitz. In Wiesebach the creek crosses under the 330 m long and 17 m high railway bridge until 1995 operated the railway line of Altenburg- Langenleuba - Oberhain, with 16 arches and a unique in Europe intense curvature. Below the dam Schömbach it flows as Wyhra further by Frohnburg and Borna and finally joins up with Lobstädt in the splices.

Tributaries

As right inflows mainly coming from Kohren- Sahlis Bach system rat - cat - mouse ( Ossabach ), joins the road at Borna Eula and Göpfersdorfer Bach and the Bach Frohnsdorf villages are mentioned. The left tributaries are rather smaller streams and ditches, as in not too far is the watershed for the splices. The largest left tributary is the brick Heimer creek that flows near Frohnsdorf.
