Wyrd Sisters

Wyrd Sisters ( English title: Wyrd Sisters) is a novel by Terry Pratchett. It is the sixth Discworld novel and enables Granny Weatherwax their second appearance as the main protagonist. Wyrd Sisters was published in 1988 and not only takes the title clear reference to William Shakespeare.

Action

The king of Lancre is murdered by his cousin Lord Felmet. His new born son and the crown reach thanks to a last faithful servant in the hands of the witch Esme Weatherwax, Gytha Ogg and Magrat garlic. They hide the child and the crown with a force Travelling Players. After it turns out that the new ruler the country badly treated and the particular, respected by the people, to date, bullied witches, they decide to do to bring the rightful king on the throne. Granny takes a truly enormous rocket science and catapulted Lancre by 15 years into the future.

Meanwhile, the new king is trying to convince the people of the legitimacy of his rule and the wickedness of the witches. He is a theater piece in that very theater group in order, which employs the acting very talented heir to the throne. During the performance, the witches manipulate the cast and play a scene in which the murder of the old king is shown. The following tumult Lord Felmet goes mad and jumps from the castle wall. The witches are now trying to use the son as king. The waived, however, thanks to the royal dignity, as he has found his personal fulfillment on the stage. Finally, the court jester, unmasked as a secret, illegitimate son of Queen and own brother of actor ligand heir to the throne and crowned the new king. As the German title of the book makes clear, the novel takes an ironic and lucid on the Witches of Lancre motifs from William Shakespeare's Macbeth.
