Xabi Alonso comes from a family footballers. His father Periko Alonso played for FC Barcelona and Real Sociedad won with two Spanish league titles. His older brother Mikel Alonso plays in midfield for Charlton Athletic, and his younger brother Jon is an arbitrator.
The defensive midfielder Xabi Alonso began his career at the young Real Sociedad. His debut in the first team took place on 1 December 1999 in a cup match. It was a turbulent time at Real Sociedad. In one year, three coaches took turns, and Xabi was awarded at the beginning of the season 2000/ 01 at SD Eibar.
