Xacobeo Galicia
Xacobeo Galicia was a Spanish cycling team.
Xacobeo Galicia was founded in 2007 as a Professional Continental team under the name Karpin Galicia and took part in the race mostly the UCI Europe Tour. Manager was Álvaro Pino, Jesús Villar and the José Angel Vidal stood as sports director for the page. The team was equipped with wheels of the brand Orbea.
The team came under criticism because with Isidro Nozal, Marcos Serrano and Eladio Jiménez three riders of this team are involved in the doping scandal Fuentes.
The first team name was composed of the Spanish region of Galicia and the former Russian national football team, Valeri Karpin the team supporting the president and co-owner had been before he took over the post of Director General of FC Spartak Moscow. Since August 2008, the name component Karpin was Xacobeo (German: Jakob ) replaced Sociedad Anonima de Xestión and do plan Xacobeo became a partner of the team. The Sociedad Anonima de Xestión do plan Xacobeo is a related company of the Galician regional government which was founded for the promotion of Jakob year 1993. In 2010, another Jacob year took place.
End of September 2010 was the main sponsor announced that he will retire from the professional cycling from the end of the year, after which the team broke up. Attempts to rescue the team that could not pay the driver salaries for several months, failed.
