Xavier Tilliette

Xavier Tilliette ( born July 23, 1921 in Corbie, Somme ) is a French philosopher and theologian and a member of the Jesuit order.

Biography

Tilliette is a student of Jean Wahl and Vladimir Jankélévitch. He is professor emeritus of the Institut Catholique de Paris and the Pontifical Gregorian University and the Pontifical Lateran University and the Jesuit private university Centre Sèvres in Paris. In addition, he served as visiting professor at many European and non-European universities.

As a historian of philosophy, he is known primarily as Schelling specialist, in addition, he has also worked with Karl Jaspers, Paul Claudel, Maurice Merleau -Ponty and the phenomenology and the German idealism. Tilliette has published an extremely comprehensive list of fonts.
