Due to the very poor source layer scarcely details of the person of Xerxes can be made. Xerxes II was after the death of his father Artaxerxes I. Persian Great King. He had the bodies of his parents converted to Persepolis and was assassinated after only six weeks of domination in January 423 BC by his half-brother Sogdyậna in his sleep. This then ascended the throne himself, but was in turn assassinated after only a few weeks by a half-brother.
