XFrames
XFrames is a technology developed by the W3C XML application. It is used to combine multiple documents together. XFrames is intended as a replacement for HTML frames. Since February 2008 XFrames has the status of a W3C working draft.
The authors of the draft wanted to XFrames solve some problems that are due to current HTML frames. Among them are:
- The back button of the web browser no longer works intuitively with normal frames.
- It is not possible to add bookmarks for document in a frame.
- Sometimes it comes to undesirable results when the frameset is reloaded.
- It is also possible to be trapped in a frameset, which you can not understand the locations of the individual documents. This is to be regarded as a security risk.
