Xi Persei

ξ Persei (Xi Persei ), proper noun menkib (Arabic "shoulder" ), is a star of spectral type O7.5 with an apparent brightness of 4.1 mag. He is one of the few observable with the naked eye O- stars in the Earth's skies. It is assumed that ξ Persei is a runaway star of the Perseus OB2 association and he is responsible for the ionization of NGC 1499 ( the California Nebula ).
