Xia Yan

Xia Yan (Chinese夏衍, Pinyin Xia Yǎn, W.-G. Hsia Yen, born October 30, 1900 in Hangzhou, † February 6, 1995 in Beijing) was actually called Shen Naixi (Chinese沉 乃 熙, Pinyin Shen Nǎixī ) and was often known as a style name duanxian Shen (Chinese沉 端 先, Pinyin Shen duanxian, W.-G. Shen -hsien Tuan ). He was a Chinese playwright, screenwriter and translator. He is among the pioneers of film in China and won the first national award for screenplay in 1962.

Career

In 1914, Xia Yan attended the Technical School of Zhejiang Province. Five years later he took part in the movement of the fourth of May and made ​​the advanced periodical " Neuwelle Zhejiang ".
