Xianyang

Province

Xianyang (Chinese咸阳/咸阳, Xianyang Pinyin ) is a prefecture-level city of Shaanxi province in the People's Republic of China. It is located 25 km north- west of Xi'an at the Wei River in the central Guanzhong level. The city area is 10,213 square kilometers, including the management of their suburbs. Like all Chinese cities, it is growing very rapidly: in 1990 they had 736 869 inhabitants in 2000, 933 115; Today there are well over one million.

History

Xianyang was the capital of Qin.

Economy

Thirteen kilometers from the town is the international Xi'an Xianyang Airport, the largest airport in northwest China. In the city of color televisions, textiles, machinery, food and building materials are produced. There are coal mines and quarries where limestone rock is broken down. In the region of wheat and cotton is grown.

Tourism

In the community Zhengyang of the Municipality Weicheng, the Han Yangling Mausoleum (汉阳陵) of the Han emperor Jingdi is a 1999 built museum, the underground shows the results of ongoing excavations since 1990.

The prefecture-level city of Xianyang is made at the county level from three districts, one independent city and ten circles. These are:

  • Circle Liquan -礼泉县Lǐquán Xiàn;
  • Circle Yongshou -永寿县Yǒngshòu Xiàn;
  • Bin County -彬县'm Xiàn;
  • Circle Changwu -长武县Chángwǔ Xiàn;
  • Circle Xunyi -旬邑县Xunyi Xiàn;
  • Chunhua county -淳化县Chunhua Xiàn;
  • Circle Wugong -武功 县Wǔgōng Xiàn.

The former urban district Yangling -杨陵 区Yánglíng Qū where, since 1997, an Agricultural High -tech Demonstration Zone will be built, was the provincial government under the direct authority.
