Xingjiao Temple

The Xingjiao Temple (兴 教 寺; Pinyin: Xingjiao Sì ) is a Buddhist temple in Xi'an, the capital of China's Shaanxi province. It is located 20 kilometers south of the city in Shaoling yuan少陵 原( greater community Shequ杜 曲 镇), in the district of Chang'an. The temple was built in 669 under Gaozong and was one of the eight famous temple of fanchuan樊川in the Tang Dynasty.

In his five-storey Dagoba / pagoda dating back to the Tang Dynasty, the mortal remains of the famous Buddhist pilgrim monk and translator Xuanzang be (玄奘; 603-664 ) kept. Next to this are two smaller stupas (舍利塔shèlìtǎ ) for his students Kuiji窥基and Yuance圆 测.

The Tang Emperor Suzong had the stupa of Xuanzang the name " Xingjiao " award, so was the later built temple complex also " Xingjiao ". Suzongs handwritten dedication is to be read today at the stupa.

The Dagoba / pagoda / stupa of Xingjiao Temple ( Xingjiao si ta兴 教 寺塔) is since 1961 on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China ( 1-67 ).

The temple is one of the national Chinese Buddhist temple focus.
