Xinglong Station (NAOC)

Xinglong station is a Chinese Observatory ( IAU code 327 ), which is located in the administrative area of ​​Chengde, 4 km east of the city Nanshuangdong and south of the summit of the mountain Yan Shan in 960 m height. It is one of the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences ( NAOC ).

Telescopes

Principal instrument of the observatory is the Large Sky Area Multi -Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope ( LAMOST ) (translated as wide-angle multi- object optical waveguide spectroscopy telescope ). This optimized for spectroscopy reflector telescope is the largest Chinese optical telescope. Its cost amounted to 30 million U.S. dollars. It was taken in June 2007.
