XOX-Theater Kleve

The XOX Theatre is an independent theater in the former factory buildings of XOX biscuit factory in Kleve - Kellen. The building is a listed building. After the closure of the biscuit factory in 1977 parts of the building were used as a warehouse or retail space, 1997 there by eleven Klever theater lovers and the 600 m² large theater was founded with around 100 seats and a foyer. The XOX Theatre is the only theater in the region with its own ensemble and a contemporary, avant-garde program.

Although the ensemble is not composed of professional actors, the productions of the theater are very professionally produced and well attended. In addition, guest performances, readings, workshops and concerts are performed in the XOX Theatre. The theater work is supported financially and organizationally by a non-profit sponsoring.

The theater is the creator and organizer of the annual festival " Klever XOX Summer Theatre ", which takes place in urban locations such as the courtyard of the Swan Castle, the square in front of the town church or the Klever fish market since 2002. This also prominent theater professionals will be invited from outside. The event is sponsored by the Rhineland Regional Council ( LVR ).

In 2003, the XOX theater for his contribution to the cultural life of the region to Johann Moritz Culture Prize of the city of Kleve.

Reception

2008 brought the theater Bash - pieces of the last days of the American writer Neil LaBute on the stage, praising the Rheinische Post for his " big under the skin Monologues". A Mime Workshop of the Berlin duo Mimusen dedicated the general of the Westdeutsche Zeitung and the WDR jointly operated web portal DerWesten 2008, a report titled The ABCs of great art.
