Xu Caihou

General Xu Caihou (Chinese徐 才 厚, Pinyin Xu Caihou, born June 1943 in Wafangdian, Liaoning Province, Republic of China ) was from 2007 to November 2012 Member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China, since 1999 he was a member and Vice President since 2004 Chairman of the Central Military Commission the CCP and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of the people's Republic of China.

He is an ethnic Han, soldier since 1970 and studied at the Electronics Department of the Military Engineering School of Harbin. In the People's Liberation Army, he worked at various levels mainly in the General Political Department, one of the four main divisions, most recently as Director-General from 2003 to 2005.
