Yaco

Yaco is a village in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

Yaco is the central place of the district ( bolivian: Municipio) Yaco in the province Loayza. The village is located in the Serrania de Yaco Sicasica at an altitude of 3614 m on the right bank of the Río Yaco which opens later in the Río Luribay.

Geography

Yaco lies between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Amazon lowlands to the east. The region has a typical diurnal climate, ie that the temperature difference between day and night is greater than the temperature difference between seasons.

The mean average temperature of the region is about 11 ° C and varies 8-9 ° C in June and 12 and 13 ° C in November. The annual rainfall is 500 to 600 mm, with a pronounced dry season during the months of June and July, and monthly rainfall of over 100 mm in January.

Infrastructure

Yaco is located 203 kilometers by road from La Paz, the capital of the department of the same name.

From La Paz from the paved highway Ruta Ruta 2 1 leads west to El Alto, from there 129 km south across Sica Sica after Konani. Here a road branches off to the northeast and performs more than 61 kilometers above the villages of Villa Puchuni and Tablachaca by Yaco.

Population

The population of the town was in the 2001 census at 606 inhabitants and is the current decade to 749 inhabitants ( 2009 estimate ) increased. Because of the historical population development, the Aymara population is predominant in Yaco, in the municipality of Yaco 97.5 % of the population speak the Aymara language.
